Don’t wait for spring to over seed take advantage of winter dormant seeding and allow Mother Nature to do the work for you. When soil temperatures are consistently below 50 degrees you can over seed your lawn (we recommend using the same type seed as your existing lawn) and allow the freeze / thaw cycles  along with the snow to drive the seed into the ground. When the soil warms up in the spring your seed will germinate. Please Note when winter dormant seeding is done the first application in the spring should be starter fertilizer rather than crabgrass pre emergent so if your lawn is being treated by a professional you will need to let them know.
